pull of the ocean
waves drag hard
scraping bottom I am
lifted and thrown down;
the sea laughs, shuffling
her moon and sun in
one smooth hand
while drawing me
so certainly to you.
Flooded, her great tides
fill me, recede
I paddle to you breathless
fighting salt invasion
dragged under again
we roll over and over
riding dizzy waves
I obey, pour
ancient power tides
pushing me with force
from time’s dawn
straight past us to
the last of days.
